At eleven o’clock this morning, I heard the President tell Congress that the “people” are speaking to him! During the course of his talk this AM, he made that claim at least twenty times.
Everything he wants for Americans, you know like, The Jobs Act, Congress (meaning the Republicans) doesn’t like. He has done everything possible (Including promising his next child) to get them (those Republicans) to pass the Jobs Act.
Americans, you know, the “people” tell him, they want the Jobs Act, but he can’t seem to get it across to Congress that they need to pass it because the “People” know that is what they need. It seems those people over there in the Congress won’t negotiate with him and PASS THAT BILL! All of it – that is what the People want!
Strange that he knows so well what it is the “People” want! He lives in a large protected area called the White House while members of Congress live in their “People’s” neighborhoods. Yet the President hears from “their People” several times a day, to hear him tell it anyway!
However, what the “People” seem to want is reduced spending, not more dollars being put into a Jobs Act that didn’t work the first time.
Now, Mr. President, I suggest you go back to your office and do exactly what it is the “People” are telling you and the Congress, to do – CUT SPENDING!
Your bill includes money to increase teacher salaries, and rebuild schools because our students need better education. To begin with, I’m tired of hearing that because THAT IS NOT TRUE! Our students have good teachers; they are the best-educated children in the world! And, they do get a good education!
Want Proof?
Just consider how ‘American Know How’, in this great nation of ours, has advanced the technology of the world far more in the last 200+ years than the world did in the 5,000 years before (Read The Five Thousand Year Leap) That demonstrates application of knowledge! What good is passing a test if you can’t put the information to work for you and those around you?
So much for the dumbells in the United States.
On top of that education in this country is a State Issue. More than that, in some states, New York, for example School Boards are local. Teacher salaries meet a standard equal to the average income of those families whose children they teach. There is no such thing as an average salary (well, there is, but it’s meaningless) and teachers should be paid the average of the families whose children they teach. Federal control of education, actually any National project is for “power” and “control” not always for the good of the “People”!
With all of that in mind, and not having heard from the Debt Reduction Committee, I’d like to propose several reductions to our debt-ridden budget. The Education Department (it has taken more than $8M each year since the 1980′s, We have seen nothing useful come of all those dollars so drop $8M!
Then we have a ‘Commissioned Corp’ which takes $10M each year for recruiting and training for emergencies. That is over and above what is spent on FEMA and Homeland Security. Plus $12M for the annual operation. Then there is the more commonly known, the Selective Service Department. Why do we need both?
I have yet to hear how much has been deducted from the duplicated committees as reported the March GAO and CBO reports.
Now if you take out all of those unnecessary dollars, you’ve cut the budget by $30.5M and I’m sure there’s much more when you put on your thinking cap, beside your shoes!
