Has America become so debased that all the Republicans have as we approach the election of our 45th President is Cain and Gingrich? True, many are unhappy with number 44, he at least does appear to be an individual of respectable behavior. Two of those standing in the wings leave much to be desired and it disturbs me because . . . . AMERICA DESERVES BETTER . . .
. . . Our Founding Fathers were men of Faith, they spoke, wrote and lived in concert with an Almighty being. The two candidates hovering in the wings are Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich. Cain is being accused of inappropriate behavior with women in his employ and Newt, following two divorces, is on his third wife. Newt, who by his own admission is so bright, he has saved America so many times, that Americans owe him the title of Pres. # 45. Don’t you believe it!
I don’t understand how these two are running so high in the polls. It grieves me even more when I see and hear so little coverage for other candidates with far better behavior, loyalty and production than those two.
True, a major portion of American Voters are not happy with President Obama, but the displeasure does not come as a result of immorality, rather leadership. Our country, the United States of America was founded and built by people who crossed the ocean for Freedom OF Religion, not FROM religion. They were people who cared about one’s behavior.
According to a recent Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life almost 85% of Americans claim religious connection. The rest claim to be religious, but not affiliated and others are just not particular either way. All of which indicates a preference for, at least, a minimum of decency among their neighbors and leaders. Why not for the leaders of our country? How can a population of 85% faith affiliated individuals be willing to accept a self confessed sexual pervert (because that is what one is when he sexually harasses women?) Before you claim there has been no proof, just accusations, Herman Cain went on television and admitted to what he did to one of the women. It sounded like sexual perversion to me.
If there is one, there certainly can be more. Today, Cain’s wife, with children standing by, went on TV defending him. The man has no shame!
Beginning long before the Pilgrims, there was a desire for freedom, more specifically, freedom of religion, not from religion! People wished to be free from government established religions. They believed freedom to be a gift of the Almighty, they believed in an Almighty being. All of which, if nothing else, demands respectable behavior. The natives that welcomed the pilgrims had a code for respectable behavior if not a formal religion. Have we fallen so far? The earliest compact on record is The Mayflower Compact, which begins with . . . “IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN.” We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord, King James, by the Grace of God, of England, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, &. having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, . . . .(1620)
Words from the first Inaugural Address of President George Washington 1789. Following his expression of thanks and humility to the ‘people’ General Washington turned attention to the “Almighty Being” whom he considered was responsible for the progress of the United States through those difficult times before a Constitution.
“Such being the impressions under which I have, in obedience to the public summons, repaired to the present station, it would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official act my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe, who resides in the council of nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that his benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the people of the United States a government instituted by themselves for their essential purposes, and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success the functions allotted to his charge. In tendering this homage to the Great Author of every public and private good, I assure myself that it expresses your sentiments not less than my own, nor those of my fellow citizens at large less than either, No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than those of the United States.
Beginning with the earliest colonists, there was the desire for freedom – but freedom of religion, actually freedom from government established religions. Behavior was basic to their religions, and respectable behavior was an expectation.
Respectable behavior ought to still be an expectation in a President.
The last thing Americans need for President is a Sexual Pervert or a man who divorces sick wives. By his own admission, Herman Cain, as women were waiting in the wings to testify and confirm the accusations, went on TV and told his story, ”All I did was. . .” And what he acted out was sexual abuse of a woman who came to the Restaurant Association seeking a job.
Gingrich’s present wife has been identified by him as his third wife. If one cannot be true to those he took under the sanctity of marriage before God, what can Americans expect from him as President? And he did it twice. Please don’t tell me about all of what he accomplished as Speaker of the House, it really wasn’t that much, nor was it that good! That’s why he has to repeat it so often, we didn’t forget, he just never produced enough for us to remember!
Once in the office, we will have four years to eat crow. The Republicans do have better! Ron Paul and Michele Bachman have both given years of loyal and constitutional service to our Country in the U.S. Congress. Paul in our Military as well! Romney and Perry have been exemplary Governors. All four would make good Presidents. There are more that come with exceptional backgrounds and who would make us proud to have them represent our country around the world.
For the sake of our children, America has better people that will represent us in a way we can be proud. AMERICA DOES HAVE BETTER! So members of the media, American refuse to follow your lead, show us ALL of the Republican Candidates, not just the ones you plan to anoint!
